THE AUTHOR

D. Wayne was born and raised in Crescent City, Florida, where he grew up as one of eight children in a family that knew hard work and sacrifice. As a young man, D. Wayne worked alongside his father in the orange fields, growing up with very little but learning lessons that would stay with him for the rest of his life. He came of age during a time of tremendous change, when schools in his community were only beginning to integrate and the world around him was changing in ways that would shape his understanding of people, perseverance, and possibility.

His life did not always follow an easy path. He experienced family struggles, loss, disappointment, and moments when he felt as though he was standing on the outside looking in. But rather than allowing those experiences to define him, D. Wayne used them as fuel to create a different future. His journey eventually led him to education, where he discovered an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

D. Wayne spent his career as an educator, teaching high school and coaching varsity basketball before eventually serving as an administrator. To him, education was never simply about what happened inside a classroom. It was about recognizing potential, encouraging young people, and giving someone the support they might need to believe in themselves. That same generosity has followed him throughout his life. D. Wayne has always had a heart for people, often giving freely to those in need and going out of his way to help others — even when he had little to give himself.

A natural storyteller, D. Wayne has always found meaning in the experiences of his life. He has written throughout the years and is the author of four adult novels and a children's book. His stories are filled with the people, places, challenges, humor, heartbreak, and lessons that have shaped him.

Now, D. Wayne spends his time doing what he loves most: writing, fishing, spending time with his daughter, and telling stories. Whether he's reflecting on the past, sharing a laugh, or recounting a moment from his many years of experience, D. Wayne has a way of turning life's moments — good and bad — into stories worth remembering.

His life is a testament that our beginnings do not have to define our endings.
